So, are you thinking about why you should have a destination wedding?
Destination Weddings have a myth, that they take place in far-off international locations.
Well, in one way it could be true because some people organize their wedding in exotic places like Caribbean, Hawaii or Thailand.
But why you should have a destination wedding in a place which is 200 miles away from bride’s or groom’s homeland as a matter of fact?

1. No Family Drama

Every family, especially in Greece, has had this emotion and the awkward moment. Every parent wants the best for his child, especially for the day of its wedding.
Usually, the drama has the following concept: The parents organize the wedding and of course, they invite their own people, like the most forgotten relative that you would never know. Expect that, they are always looking for a place which is nearby their hometown to come in all the people who are from the area. The result? As a couple, you will see people who are not familiar. Wanna know the bonus? Fights. We always have that one relative who always fights with everyone, for the cake, for the chair…
So, if you want a peaceful and memorable wedding (in a good way), a destination wedding – especially on a reserved island such as Thassos – is a really good idea.

A wedding on the beach is something that I personally can’t describe… I mean that you can have a really beautiful moment with the style that you want! The food, music, dances, decoration… You will escape from the traditional plan.

3. Less stress

Admit it, in every wedding that you have been the groom or bride or both of them, were anxious in the church. It’s not because of the religion or church, but the closed room. In addition, you can manage your guests. What is the meaning of that? They’re gonna be happy and more careful. Except that, it will be truly more fun!

Who needs stress when you can have a destination wedding?

4. Communication with your guests

As I said before, you can manage your guests.
This means that you are going to have much more meaningful interactions with them during your wedding.
But since you all are at a location far away from home, chances are that you will spend some quality time together on other days as well.
You can visit the taverna together, or go to an awesome beach… or generally do everything that everyone likes to do when he is on a destination wedding in Greece.
If you really want to connect deeper with your loved ones, family, and friends, it’s a good reason why you should have a destination wedding.

5. The dress code

It’s more casual of course. It’s not necessary to have a Hollywood make-up or dress like prince/princess.
An elegant and minimal dress for the bride will do. Afterall, as we have said before, it’s a wedding you can really be yourself.
And since the wedding is organized at the beach everyone feels much more comfortable!
As for the groom, no need to get stuffed in an expensive suit, unless you really want to!

Did you think that destination weddings are for the rich and famous? Or at least for the really wealthy?
Well, think again! With a really affordable budget, you can have the wedding of your dreams!
The highest cost in a typical wedding is usually the catering for the large number of people you have to seat.
But in a destination wedding, these are usually a handful, and none really expects you to pay for their accommodation unless you choose to.
With the extra money (usually more than 2,000 €) you can even get some nice holidays yourself, or get a good photographer.

7. You can truly be yourself

Last but not least; It’s not only the food and dance, quality time with your guests, the budget and the dress code, but all of those reasons combined.
Usually, this means you can really be your true self.
For some its a pool party or swim in the sea! Really cool hah?
