A Perfect Proposal in Meteora

At The Dreammakers, we thrive on turning special moments into lasting memories. Last summer, we had the pleasure of assisting Frederic, who had a truly unique and romantic plan: he wanted to propose in Meteora, Greece, amidst its breathtaking monasteries, without his girlfriend suspecting a thing.

The Initial Inquiry

Frederic reached out to us with a heartwarming request. He introduced himself and shared his grand plan to ask his girlfriend, Laura, to marry him during their trip to Meteora. The idea was to capture this intimate moment without her noticing, creating a beautiful surprise that she would discover only after their vacation.

"Hallo mein Name ist Frederic und ich habe eine ganz besondere Anfrage... Ich möchte mit meiner Freundin nach Meteora kommen und sie dort fragen, ob sie meine Frau werden möchte."

Planning the Perfect Moment

Our founder&photographer, Alex, took charge of the communication. Though Alex wasn’t fluent in German, Frederic’s excellent English bridged the gap seamlessly. They discussed the plan in detail, focusing on timing, location, and the logistics of a secret photoshoot. Frederic preferred a sunset proposal at one of the monasteries, capturing the magical moment against the stunning backdrop of Meteora’s cliffs.

"My idea is the following: On 14.10 we start at the hotel and visit some monasteries. In the evening, at the last or best place with beautiful views during sunset, I will propose."

Logistics and Details

Given the challenge of capturing the proposal discreetly, Alex suggested arriving at the chosen monastery early to scout the best spots and ensure everything would go smoothly. He also explained the practicalities, like the need for appropriate clothing and the general prohibition of photoshoots inside the monasteries. The proposed solution was to be discreet and have a backup plan for outdoor shots if needed.

"Clothing: you need long pants, she needs a long shirt... Most monasteries close around 15.00 or 16.00 during winter. This means the proposal should take place no later than 13.30-14.00."

Alex recommended a specific monastery known for its spectacular views and a charming gazebo, perfect for the proposal. He also provided an alternative outdoor location just in case.

The Big Day

On the day of the proposal, Frederic and Laura visited the monastery as planned. They explored the serene, historic site, with Alex blending into the background, ready to capture every second. As the sun began to set, Frederic got down on one knee and asked the question that would change their lives. The moment was perfect, and Alex captured it beautifully without drawing any attention.

A Memorable Experience

Laura had no idea they were being photographed, making the reveal of the photos even more special. They now have a collection of stunning images that tell the story of their proposal in Meteora, from the serene monastery to the joyous „yes.”
